Getting the most from local search engine marketing

Square Meal is well recognised by businesses in the City of London, if you are looking to go out to a restaurant or hold an event it’s your first port of call. Containing extensive high quality reviews and ratings it is an important and long running guide for where to go out. However Square Meal provides information for the whole of the UK, and wanted to significantly raise its regional profile.

An audit was conducted to highlight the key indexation and rankings issues with the website. Based on this an optimisation roadmap was devised that balanced implementation cost with Square Meal’s overall objectives. Based on the detailed report, developers implemented a number of upgrades to both the website architecture, information organisation within the pages and content management system. Search term research of user habits using sophisticated tools ensured that “real world” search engine behaviour is now reflected in the website content. All of the above was delivered using an enterprise optimisation suite with skilled search engine optimisation specialists working hand in hand with Square Meal’s developers.

Since the work was initiated in June 2005 the results have been dramatic; Google traffic has increased by approximately 30% per month. The site gained number one rankings for “Christmas parties” in time for the festive period, which brought them significant increases visitors.
